MS225 at a Glance
Port & Uplink Options
MS225-24 and MS225-24P deliver 24 x 10/100/1000BASE-T ports; MS225-48, MS225-48LP, and MS225-48FP scale
to 48 ports. Every model includes 4 x 10G SFP+ uplink ports for high-speed
connections to the core or distribution layer.
PoE & Power
MS225-24P and MS225-48LP provide 370W of PoE+; MS225-48FP scales to
740W, with up to 30W available per port for phones, cameras, and access points. MS225-24 and MS225-48 are available as unpowered models for closets that don't need PoE.
Stacking & Performance
Two dedicated hardware stack ports deliver 80 Gbps of stacking bandwidth, and MS225
switches can stack with MS210 switches (up to 8 units) for flexible, resilient access-layer designs. Switching capacity ranges from 128 Gbps on 24-port models to 176 Gbps on 48-port models.
Management & Security
Fully managed through the Meraki cloud Dashboard with zero-touch provisioning, remote
packet capture, and automatic firmware updates. Includes 802.1X authentication, DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, IPv4/IPv6 ACLs, and static routing for Layer 3 segmentation.
Not sure which MS225 model fits your network?
Compare port counts, PoE budgets, and stacking specs across the full MS225 lineup — MS225-24,
MS225-24P, MS225-48, MS225-48LP, and MS225-48FP — side by side.
Yes. Every Meraki MS225 switch requires an active Meraki enterprise or advanced cloud
licensing subscription tied to its serial number in order to be managed through the Meraki Dashboard
and receive firmware updates and support.
All three are PoE+ capable, but they differ in port count and total PoE power budget:
the MS225-24P and MS225-48LP each provide 370W of PoE+, while the MS225-48FP scales to 740W, letting
you power more high-draw devices such as PTZ cameras and Wi-Fi 6 access points.
Yes. The MS225 series includes two dedicated hardware stack ports providing 80 Gbps
of stacking bandwidth, and it can be stacked with MS210 series switches, up to eight units per stack,
for a single logical switch with simplified management.
The MS225 is primarily a Layer 2 access switch, but it supports static routing and
VRRP-based warm spare redundancy for basic Layer 3 segmentation. For full dynamic Layer 3 routing,
consider the Meraki MS250 or MS350 series.
Every MS225 model, from the 24-port to the 48-port variants, includes four 10G SFP+
uplink ports, giving you high-bandwidth connections back to your core switch or router regardless of
access port count.
