Fortinet 243K.
High-Density Wi-Fi 7 Access Point with External Antennas
The FortiAP 243K is a premium indoor Wi-Fi 7 access point built for the toughest RF environments —
auditoriums, stadium concourses, and warehouses — where six external RP-SMA antenna connectors let you
attach directional or high-gain antennas tuned to the space. Four radios (2.4/5/6 GHz plus a dedicated
scanning radio) and a 10G multigigabit uplink give it substantially more headroom than internal-antenna
models like the 231K. Full 4-radio performance calls for 802.3bt PoE, making planning your power budget an
important first step.
802.3bt for full power (up to 26.1W); 802.3at supported at reduced 6 GHz power

Specifications
243K at a Glance
Wireless Performance
Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) tri-band 2.4/5/6 GHz radios (2+2+2 spatial streams). Up to
688 Mbps (2.4 GHz), 2.88 Gbps (5 GHz), and 5.76 Gbps
(6 GHz). Use of the 6 GHz band is subject to regional regulatory approval.
Radios & Streams
4 radios: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz, plus dedicated
scanning. 6 external RP-SMA antenna connectors for directional or high-gain
antennas. Integrated BLE/ZigBee radio.
Power & Connectivity
802.3bt PoE (up to 26.1W) required for full 4-radio operation; 802.3at works with
reduced 6 GHz transmit power. 1x GbE RJ45 plus 1x 10G multigigabit RJ45 (100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G). USB-A and RS-232 serial ports included.
Management & Deployment
Managed by FortiGate, FortiEdge Cloud, or Fortinet SASE
controllers. Ceiling/wall mount kit included. Built for high-density venues needing custom antenna coverage.
Internal or external antennas — which Wi-Fi 7 AP fits?
Compare the 243K's external-antenna flexibility against the 231K and the rest of the FortiAP lineup to
match your venue's RF needs.
Yes. The 243K is one of Fortinet's Wi-Fi 7 ("K" series) access points, with four
radios covering 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz, and dedicated background scanning.
Full 4-radio operation requires 802.3bt PoE (up to 26.1W). On 802.3at, all three
serving radios still run, but the 6 GHz radio operates at reduced transmit power.
The 243K uses six external RP-SMA antenna connectors, letting you attach directional
or high-gain antennas — useful for auditoriums, stadiums, or spaces with challenging RF geometry.
Yes. The 243K is managed by the integrated wireless controller in any FortiGate, or
through FortiEdge Cloud and Fortinet SASE controllers for cloud-managed deployments.
The 243K is ideal for high-density indoor venues — auditoriums, large classrooms,
stadium concourses, and warehouses — where antenna choice and a 10G uplink matter more than a compact,
internal-antenna form factor.
