FortiMail VM04 is licensed for up to 4 vCPUs and is built for mid to large enterprises that need
substantially more throughput and mailbox capacity than the VM01/VM02 tiers provide. It supports up to 500
protected email domains and roughly 1,500 server-mode mailboxes, with email routing throughput of roughly
306,000 messages per hour — nearly 5x that of VM02. VM04 also raises the maximum supported RAM to 16
GB and the minimum vNIC allowance to match higher-tier models, giving it enough headroom for full Data Loss
Prevention, Centralized Quarantine, and Enterprise ATP scanning at scale.
Hypervisors: VMware ESX/ESXi 6.0+, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer,

VM04 is licensed for 4 vCPUs maximum, positioning it for mid to large enterprise
deployments beyond what VM01/VM02 can handle.
VM04 supports 4 to 16 GB of RAM and 250 GB minimum up to 4 TB of storage, roughly
double the ceilings of VM02.
VM04 handles roughly 306,000 messages/hour of email routing versus VM02's
~67,000/hour — nearly a 5x jump despite only doubling the vCPU count, reflecting its larger
recommended sizing tier.
